Dr. Carey serves as the GUF Metropolitan Bishop for the Caribbean and also as a member of the Board of Trustees. He is the senior pastor of Glad Tidings Tabernacle and Chief Visionary of The CTC Network, a global mobile non-profit organization that provides consulting, training, and chaplaincy services.
Jonathan is an Assemblies of God USA-commissioned chaplain and has advanced ecclesiastical endorsement from the Assemblies of God Commission on Chaplains as an Emergency Services-Crisis/Disaster Response Chaplain. He also serves as Caribbean Regional Commander for Frontline Chaplains International, Chaplain Coordinator with the Billy Graham RRT, and a Crisis Response Care authorized instructor.
In 1993, Dr. Carey spearheaded the development of Programme S.U.R.E. (Success Ultimately Reassures Everyone), a Bahamian public alternative school for students with chronic disciplinary problems, and served as the Grand Bahama principal for six years. Altogether, he has invested 15 years in public and private educational institutions as an educator and administrator.
Jonathan has also served as a member of the Bahamas National Crime Commission, chairperson of the Bahamas National Youth Advisory Board, and chairperson of the Ministry of Tourism's West Grand Bahama Community Tourism Board.
Jonathan is a marriage officer for The Bahamas and Florida and a Justice of the Peace in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. Jonathan and his wife, Shena, are the proud parents of three adult married children and grandparents of five.
Jonathan is a 2023 recipient of the U.S. Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Service and Volunteerism.
